Dale
Marx is inspired by the horizon and the story land can speak.
He is passionate about moments that stop time. Moments that
give space for breath.
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, farm scenes have inspired much
of Dale's recent art. Amish and Mennonite farms quilt the landscape
and speak their own "farmscape" story.
Dale lives in Lancaster city with Tracey, his wife. His studio
is in the loft of their uniquely converted warehouse. Dale's
BA in Art, background in construction, crafts, design, and fine
art provides him with many outlets for his creativity. His MDiv
degree and work in ministry gives him a depth of faith and thought
as well as an appreciation for spirit and mystery. |

Dale
marked the transition into his more focused art career by backpacking
the 2160 mile Appalachian Trail. Since
finishing his hike, Dale has been honoring his creative spirit.
By bringing together the airy softness of colored pencil and
the solid values of acrylic paint, Dale has created a unique
style that accentuates depth. Also, by emphasizing an important
foreground image the objects become more like symbols. |
"Symbolic Realism" is an appropriate term to describe
Dale's style. It is both appealing and engaging.
Dale exhibites his art at regional shows and in several local
Lancaster County businesses, including the Dutchland Gallery.
A
sample of Dale's art in mural form can be viewed at the Holy
Spirit Lutheran Church in Lancaster.
A new direction and creative challenge for Dale is in the field
of web design. Creating art displayed with the back lighting,
or technically unreflected light, of a computer screen is exciting,
especially when art can move as in a Flash movie. |
